Shawn is a 4th-degree black belt with nearly 25 years of competition and coaching experience. He's an active competitor himself, with many notable international victories, including two gold medals at the Pan Am Championships. Shawn has also coached numerous students to World Championship and Pan Am Championship titles. He was recognized as the North American Grappling Championship's Instructor of the Year after several seasons of his team earning top rankings. His team has consistently achieved top rankings in events sanctioned by IBJJF, NAGA, Fuji, EGO, and other prestigious competition organizations.
